SSF116 – The Mass in the Old Testament: Approaching the Lord with Fear and Trembling
Dates: TBD
To participate more fully in the Mass, it is valuable to be aware of the symbolic significance of the text and structure. Much of that symbolism comes from the Old and New Testament. This course will explore the way that the liturgy we celebrate today has been shaped by themes from the Bible. The themes we will explore include: participation in the life of the Trinity, sacrifice, the wedding feast, the in-gathering of all creation, and approaching the Lord with fear and trembling. Besides the Bible and the text of the Mass, the instructor will provide reading material he has prepared.
