A completed Application for Admission must be submitted by all prospective students. The application process includes a personal statement indicating the reasons you are applying for the program you are interested in. For the Graduate Program, there is also a writing sample of no more than 500 words within the application process.
For the School of Spiritual Formation and the Spiritual Direction program, there is a nonrefundable application fee of $20 for laity and $5 for the ordained and religious (including consecrated) to be submitted with the application. For the Graduate Program, there is a nonrefundable application fee of $40 for laity and $15 for the ordained and religious (including consecrated) to be submitted with the application.
The application to a particular program only needs to be filled out once. After acceptance, students will receive notifications on registering for courses each quarter.
Potential students must apply at least one week before the start of their first course. Once accepted into the Avila Institute, you will be notified concerning registration for courses each quarter.
Live/online/interactive courses require the following technological capabilities:
Graduate Program: Students should plan for two hours of study time for each hour of class time. Each course will meet for at least two hours per week while in session.
School of Spiritual Formation and Spiritual Direction: Students should assume a half hour to an hour of study time for each hour of class time.
Graduate Program: The cost of our online program is $550 per three credit hour course. The total Graduate Program of 40 credit hours is $7,200. This cost does not include books or other required materials. If a payment plan is not selected, courses must be paid in full before the start of the course.
School of Spiritual Formation and Spiritual Direction: The cost of our online program is $200 – $275 per course. This cost does not include books or other required materials. If a payment plan is not selected, courses must be paid in full before the start of the course.
