Starting with an examination into the Mystery of God and God’s invitation to be in friendship with Him, this course will consider the revelation of prayer from Genesis to Revelation as presented in the Catechism of the Catholic Church. This course will emphasize the use of the Bible in the Public Worship of the Church. The Church teaches that the Liturgy is the “source and summit of the Christian life” (Lumen gentium, 11) and that “Sacred Scripture is the souls of all theology” (Dei Verbum, 11). Exploring the relationship between the Bible and the Liturgy is deep as it is wide, and with the help of the Church Fathers (patristics), we will seek to ascend the heights of mystery. Our study will also consider the relationship between the Bible and the sacramental life as a whole.
