Description
As Fr. Garrigou-Lagrange stated, one of the most misunderstood concepts in the modern era is divine charity. As Catholic spiritual masters testify, charity is at the heart of authentic prayer and contemplation, as the soul in this world strives towards the perfection of its sanctification and the fruition of its love in the consummate union of the Beatific Vision. However, in this life, true charity is inseparable from the virtues of faith and religion. Therefore, this webinar will examine the mystical depths to which souls of goodwill are called and the simple but penetrating insights of St. Thomas Aquinas and the Carmelite saints on mystical contemplation. By dispelling popular errors and arriving at a proper understanding of contemplation and divine union, a person can be rightly informed about the true way forward towards that which no eye has seen, no ear heard, nor the deepest desires of the human heart conceived…
Fr. Thomas Mary of Jesus, Er. Carm. is a member of the Hermits of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The Hermits of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is a Roman Catholic religious order reviving the eremitical Carmelite charism according to the life of the ancient Carmelites on Mount Carmel in the 1200s and the subsequent contemplative foundations of the Discalced Carmelites “Holy Deserts” established by Ven. Thomas of Jesus in the 1600s. Thus, the Hermits of Our Lady of Mount Carmel observe the primitive Carmelite Rule of St. Albert in its original character of eremitical contemplative religious life. Zealous for the glory of God, the spiritual renewal of the Church, and the sanctification and salvation of souls, they are consecrated to a contemplative religious life of prayer and sacrifice. In addition to the hidden influence of the community’s prayers and sacrifices, the community’s priests offer a specific spiritual apostolate that provides possibilities of zealous preaching and spiritual direction, contributing to authentic spiritual renewal in the Church and furthering the spiritual, theological, and moral education and formation of priests, religious, seminarians, and the lay faithful.
