Fr. Matthew MacDonald

Fr. Matthew MacDonald is a priest of the Archdiocese of New York and was ordained by His Eminence, Timothy Cardinal Dolan in May 2014. He has received a Bachelors Degree in Philosophy from Franciscan University of Steubenville, a Bachelors in Sacred Theology (STB) from the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum) in Rome, as well as a Masters in Divinity (MDiv) and Masters of Arts (MA) in Theology from Saint Joseph’s Seminary (Dunwoodie) in Yonkers, New York. He wrote his MA Thesis on “Testing the Spirits”: On the Principles of Discerning Private Revelations according to Scripture, the Teachings of the Magisterium, and the Writings of the Carmelite School of Spirituality. He currently serves as Parochial Vicar at Saint Mary’s Church in Washingtonville, New York. He has written articles for Catholic World Report, Crisis Magazine, and SpiritualDirection.com on various topics dealing with theology, spirituality, and current events effecting the church and the world. His greatest loves are Our Lord, Our Lady, the Priesthood, and the Church. He seeks to help people grow in the love of Our Lord through helping people to live out the teachings of the Church on prayer and the Spiritual Life. The eldest of three children, when not busy he enjoys traveling, history, prayer, reading, writing, running, and spending time with family and friends.
